“When people walk in the door - they see the picture and its like 'gasp' - you just see their reaction. It’s very impressive!”
- Michael Ruggiero, F. Ruggiero & Sons, Inc.

F. Ruggiero & Sons of Westchester, Inc.

Since 1875, the Ruggiero family has been a premiere family in the funeral service industry. Their business was founded 5 generations ago, in 1875, 10 years after the Civil War had ended and during the time when Ulysses S. Grant was President.

Throughout the years, the families they serve have found their efforts to be of great value in arranging funeral services that are most meaningful and appropriate for those who remain, while incorporating the wishes of the person who has died.

What were you using before you purchased your 42" Sedona from FuneralScreen?

We had this little thing where you just wrote off the computer with the name and the funeral information. Now we are able to put up the person's picture and the funeral information.

Now - when people walk in the door - they see the picture and its like 'gasp' - you just see their reaction.   It’s very impressive.

"My son does most of the programming. It seems very simple - you just go online, put the picture and the information in - if it takes five minutes, it's a long time."

What made you decide you needed to try something new?

Andrew, my son, persuaded me into buying the FuneralScreen products. I was a little a little skeptical because we have a very traditional Italian funeral home. I was afraid of what people would say when they came in but people embraces it. I'm more pleased than I thought I would be!

We actually went all the way - right from the beginning. We bought the funeralscreen for the entrance and we bought one for each entrance into each Chapple.

What reservations did you have about using FuneralScreen Digital Signage?

I was afraid how people would perceive it - people come through the door and someone's pictures up on the wall - I don't know… It seemed like it might be a little bit too 'Disney World' kind of thing. And that's not the case.

What is your favorite feature?

The photograph is very powerful when people come. When you see someone come in the door and they go over and you know they kiss the hand and touch the picture, it’s very powerful. And they say, "We've never seen this. We've never seen this anywhere else." It makes you feel like you're state of the art.

Tell me about the most positive experience you’ve had using your FuneralScreen display.

A lot of people take photographs. They'll actually come in and say "oh my god" and they'll take out their phones and start taking pictures of it. It is a very powerful thing.

You'll see a widow come in the door and she'll see her husband's picture up and automatically breaks down and cries. It becomes part of the healing process. It releases them a little bit before they go into the room and spend time with their loved ones. It works to break the ice from the moment they walk into the door.

Would you recommend FuneralScreen displays?

A funeral director a couple of towns over saw it and he ran right out and bought one. He had the same reaction that we do.

Why would you recommend FuneralScreen displays?

The simplicity of it. Instead of sitting there with these little white letters like you used to do years ago, or putting something online or slipping a piece of paper behind a glass display… it's very state of the art and easy to use. My son does most of the programming. It seems very simple - you just go online, put the picture and the information in - if it takes five minutes, it's a long time.
